    It just so happens one of my good friends, and BDR Ambassador, Trevor Morton, is largely responsible for the layout of the route and bringing it all together.

    To say that I’m looking forward to hosting this event and sharing my friend with the locals around the Kansas City area and beyond would be an understatement. And that is exactly how this kind of stuff is supposed to happen. Making this big world a little smaller, one BDR at a time.

    Motorcycling the Great Continental Divide Trail

    Oh yes, it’s a thing. It’s a wonderful thing. It’s a difficult thing. It’s something I’ll never forget.

    I completed the ride back in July of 2016. I planned to complete the journey in twelve to fourteen days, but managed to finish in nine. My KTM 1190, which I affectionately call “Godzilla,” demolishes miles. I’ve ridden all the big bikes. Nothing is like the KTM 1190. It’s lighter, faster, more graceful, and more athletic.

    Here’s a really solid recap of the route and some of the specific challenges I had to overcome as a solo rider on a 500-pound motorcycle (plus gear). If you’re at all curious about doing this ride, read my recap.

    If you spend a lot of time on motorcycles and have ‘iron butt’, a seat probably doesn’t matter much to you. However, if you’re like me and can’t always be riding, a seat that fits right is pretty important. For years I had heard about Renazco. I finally bit the bullet and dropped the cash. Based on my experiences now, I can say it’ll be something I do for any dual sport motorcycle from today forward.
